Privacy Policy
Short version: DailyBrain does not collect personal information directly. Your game data stays in your browser. Third-party advertising partners (including Google AdSense) may set cookies and collect data as described below. You have the right to opt out.
1. Who We Are
DailyBrain ("we", "us", "our") operates the website accessible at dailybrainhub.com and all pages and subdomains under it (collectively, the "Site"). We provide free daily browser-based puzzle games including Word Ladder, Daily Detective, Color Matcher, and future games.
This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information in connection with your use of the Site. If you do not agree with this policy, please discontinue use of the Site.
2. Data We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide Directly
We do not require you to create an account or provide personal information to play any game on DailyBrain. If you contact us via our contact page, you may provide your name and email address. We use that information only to respond to your message and we do not add it to any marketing list.
2.2 Information Collected Automatically
When you visit the Site, standard server logs and third-party services may automatically record:
- Your IP address (typically used in anonymised form)
- Browser type and version
- Operating system
- Referring URL
- Pages visited and time spent
- Date and time of each request
We do not use this information to identify you personally. It is used in aggregate to understand traffic patterns and improve the Site.
2.3 Information We Do NOT Collect
We do not collect, store, or transmit your puzzle scores, game progress, or daily streaks to any server. That data lives entirely in your browser's localStorage and is never sent to us.
3. Local Storage and Cookies
3.1 Our Own Local Storage Use
The Site uses your browser's localStorage to save:
- Your theme preference (dark or light mode), stored under the key
db-theme - Your daily puzzle progress, streaks, and scores for each game
- The date of your last visit, to determine whether today's puzzles have already been played
This data never leaves your device. If you clear your browser's site data, all of it is erased permanently. We cannot recover it for you.
3.2 Cookies Set by Third Parties
Third-party services embedded on the Site — including Google AdSense and any analytics tools we use — may set cookies in your browser independently. These cookies are governed by the privacy policies of those third parties, not by this policy. Details are provided in Section 4 (Advertising) and Section 6 (Analytics).
3.3 Managing Cookies
You can block or delete cookies at any time through your browser settings. Note that blocking third-party cookies may affect whether ads display correctly but will not prevent you from playing any game on the Site.
4. Advertising and Third-Party Services
4.1 Google AdSense
DailyBrain displays advertisements served by Google AdSense, operated by Google LLC. Google AdSense uses cookies and similar tracking technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to our site and/or other sites on the internet.
By using the Site you acknowledge that Google may collect and use data about your browsing activity for ad personalisation as described in Google's Advertising Policies.
4.2 Opting Out of Personalised Ads
You can opt out of personalised advertising by Google in any of the following ways:
- Visit Google Ad Settings and turn off ad personalisation
- Visit aboutads.info to opt out of interest-based advertising from participating companies
- Use a browser extension such as uBlock Origin to block ads entirely
Opting out means you may see ads, but those ads will not be personalised to your interests. The number or placement of ads on the Site does not change.
4.3 Other Advertising Networks
We may in the future use additional advertising networks beyond Google AdSense. If and when we do, this policy will be updated to name those networks and link to their privacy policies. The same opt-out principles described above will apply.
4.4 No Ad Revenue From Games
Ads appear on page wrappers and between page sections. No interstitial ads appear inside game windows, and no ads autoplay audio or video.
5. Affiliate Marketing
DailyBrain may participate in affiliate marketing programmes. This means that if we link to a product or service and you make a purchase through that link, we may receive a small commission at no additional cost to you.
All affiliate links will be clearly disclosed at the point of use in accordance with applicable advertising standards and the requirements of the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and equivalent bodies in other jurisdictions. We only recommend products or services we believe are relevant and useful to our audience.
Affiliate relationships do not influence our editorial content, puzzle design, or game rankings. We are not paid to place any particular game or product inside our puzzle content.
If you have a question about whether a specific link is an affiliate link, please contact us.
6. Analytics
We may use web analytics services to understand how visitors use the Site. These services collect information such as how often you visit the Site, what pages you visit, and what site you came from prior to visiting. We use this information to improve the Site. Analytics data is collected in aggregate and is not used to identify you individually.
If we use Google Analytics, you can opt out by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
7. Children's Privacy
The Site is intended for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 (or the applicable minimum age in your jurisdiction). If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at the address in Section 13 and we will delete that information promptly.
All puzzle content on DailyBrain is designed to be family-friendly and PG-rated. However, we cannot control the content of third-party advertisements served via Google AdSense. If you are concerned about ad content, we recommend using a content filtering solution or ad blocker on devices used by children.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights under applicable data protection law, including:
- Right to access: Request a copy of any personal data we hold about you.
- Right to erasure: Request that we delete your personal data.
- Right to rectification: Ask us to correct inaccurate data.
- Right to restriction: Ask us to restrict the processing of your data.
- Right to object: Object to processing based on legitimate interests.
- Right to data portability: Receive your data in a structured, commonly used format.
- Right to opt out of sale (CCPA): We do not sell personal information. If this changes, we will provide a clear opt-out mechanism.
Because we do not store personal data on our servers (your game data stays in your browser), most of these rights are exercised locally through your browser settings. For any data held in server logs or submitted via our contact form, please contact us at the address in Section 13.
9. Data Retention
Any personal information you submit to us via the contact form is retained only as long as necessary to respond to your query and is not added to any marketing list or database. Server logs are retained for a maximum of 90 days for security and abuse-prevention purposes and then deleted or anonymised.
Data stored in your browser's localStorage is retained indefinitely on your device until you clear your browser data or uninstall the browser. We have no access to or control over that data.
10. Security
We take reasonable technical measures to protect the Site from unauthorised access. The Site is served over HTTPS. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Because game data is stored locally in your browser and never transmitted to us, the security of that data depends on the security of your own device.
11. Third-Party Links
The Site may contain links to third-party websites, including blog posts that reference external sources. We have no control over the content or privacy practices of those websites. This Privacy Policy applies only to dailybrainhub.com. We encourage you to read the privacy policy of any third-party site you visit.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or applicable law. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We will not notify you by email because we do not collect email addresses from general visitors. We recommend checking this page periodically if you use the Site regularly.
13. Contact
If you have questions, concerns, or requests relating to this Privacy Policy, please use our contact page. We will respond within a reasonable timeframe.
